Dongfang to Build 300-MW Coal Fired Power Plant in Georgia

Georgia has signed a deal with Dongfang Electric Corp. (DEC) to help build a 300-MW coal-fired power plant in the ex-Soviet country, the Chinese company said recently.

Dongfang signed an agreement with Georgian company Cpower. The project is estimated to cost $250 million, with construction expected to start in 2018 and to be completed in 2020.
The plant, which will be built in South Georgia, will help the country meet peak winter power demand and export electricity to Turkey in the summer.
Recently, DEC won the contract of 2×660MW Duyen Hai (Phase II) Supercritical Coal-fired Power Plant Coastal in Vietnam. This is the third contract DEC has won in Duyen Hai power plant after Duyen Hai Phase I and Phase III.
