Changchun FAW Energy Division 6#-10# Power Plants—Ultralow Emission Retrofit Project

China FAW Group Co., Ltd. is located in Changchun, Jilin Province. Its predecessor was the First Automobile Works of China built with the aid of the Soviet Union in 1953.

Before retrofitting, the power units of 6#, 7#, 8#, 9# and 10# of Changchun FAW were all equipped with NID semi-dry FGD system, which were put into operation in 2008 and 2009 respectively, to meet the standard of SOx<400mg/Nm3、dust<200mg/Nm3、NOx<200mg/Nm3.

Since the Chinese government determined to carry out ultra-low emission action, which means all boilers need to meet the standards of NOx＜50mg/Nm3、SO2＜35mg/Nm3 and dust＜10mg/Nm3 within regulated period. Additionally, the owner was always troubled with the problems of system instability and blockage during NID operation. Therefore, FAW decided to retrofit the existing five NID systems to Lonjing’s D-MEC technology after research and demonstration.

On July 23, 2020, Present Xi Jinping paid a visit to FAW Changchun and made an important speech there. He highly praised the success of structural reform as well as the good environment of FAW Changchun. The clean stack is benefitted by the advanced D-MEC system with the advantages listed as below:

1.Good performance and high stability in achieving super-ultra-low emission standard of NOx＜30mg/Nm3,SO2＜20mg/Nm3 and dust＜5mg/Nm3.
2.Multi-pollutant removal of SO3, HCl, HF, NOX, Dioxin, Pb and Hg.
3.High adaptability to high or low sulfur condition
4.No visible plume, clean stack.
5.No waste water.
6.Comprehensive utilization in dry byproduct
In Dec 2019 and Mar 2020, D-MEC with SCR systems for Changchun FAW 7# and 6# power units were successfully put into operation, while the remaining three units of 8#, 9# and 10# are still under construction.
